Overview:
Bhutan – Highlights of Spring & Autumn offers a well-paced journey through Bhutan during its best travel seasons. Spring brings blooming landscapes and fresh greenery, while autumn offers clear skies, crisp air, and excellent mountain views.
The route follows Paro – Punakha – Thimphu – Paro, covering the country’s key cultural and historical highlights. The itinerary includes guided sightseeing combined with light to moderate walking. Guests should be comfortable walking, as the tour includes the hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang) along with other short walks.
The journey includes visits to important temples, dzongs, and traditional villages, with opportunities to experience local culture and daily life. Selected departures may also coincide with Bhutan’s seasonal festivals.
Accommodation is in premium, carefully selected hotels, chosen for their comfort, quality, and authentic Bhutanese character.
Departures are scheduled during spring and autumn to ensure favourable travel conditions.

Tour Leader – Local Experts
Younten Jamtsho has been guiding since 2004, with over two decades of experience leading cultural and trekking journeys across Bhutan. He has also co-led expeditions with international leaders, combining Bhutanese traditions with broader travel perspectives. He is known for his calm approach and deep local knowledge, creating journeys that are meaningful and well-paced.
Younten is certified by Bhutan’s Department of Tourism in cultural and trekking guiding, with additional training in tour leadership and wilderness emergency response. He has successfully completed the Snowman Trek 11 times, one of Bhutan’s most demanding 25-day high-altitude treks.
Beyond guiding, Younten is passionate about Bhutan’s national sport, archery. He represented Bhutan in compound archery at the 2023 Asian Games.

Paro
Arrival, Check-in & Local Sightseeing
Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be greeted by our tour crew. After checking in and settling into your hotel, we’ll take you on a sightseeing tour in Paro. The first day is kept relaxed to allow you to acclimatize comfortably.

Day 2
Paro/Punakha
Travel to Punakha, stopping at scenic Dochu La pass with its stunning Himalayan views. Enjoy the serene Lungchutse Hike, then visit the revered Chimi Lhakhang Temple, a sacred site where pilgrims come to pray for blessings of fertility and happiness.

Day 3
Punakha
Full day of exploration through the lush Punakha Valley, the former capital of Bhutan. Hike along a scenic trail that winds through fields and rice paddies, leading to the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. In the afternoon, explore Punakha Dzong, a 300-year-old fortress and the winter residence of Bhutan’s central monastic body, where many major Royal Events take place. Wander through its majestic halls, serene courtyards, and historic cantilevered bridge before strolling to the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan.

Day 4
Punakha/Thimphu
Journey back over Dochu La Pass for a second chance to take in the breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountain range. Time permitting, Enjoy the valley views from the meticulously cared for Wangditse temple.

Day 5
Thimphu
Explore Thimphu Valley with a visit to the iconic Buddha Dordenma, one of the world’s largest Buddha statues, overlooking the Thimphu Valley. Wander through bustling local markets, explore fascinating museums, and step inside sacred temples—immersing yourself in Bhutan’s rich culture and daily life. Thimphu offers the best experience of the country’s city life, where tradition and modernity exist in perfect harmony.

Day 6
Paro
Visit Ta Dzong, home to Bhutan’s National Museum, offering magnificent views over Paro. Then, head down to Rinpung Dzong. Follow the trail across the Paro Chhu River via the traditional bridge Nyamai Zam, passing the main archery ground, Ugyen Pelri Palace, and into Paro town. Finally, pay your respects at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, home to a magical orange tree that bears fruit all year round.

Day 7
Paro
Hike to Taktshang Goemba, more commonly known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most iconic and spiritually significant architectural wonders.
On your final night, take time to recharge by enjoying the Bhutanese hot stone bath, or indulge in the hotel’s wellness treatments for a rejuvenating end to your Bhutan – Highlights of Spring and Autumn journey.
