Overview
Western Bhutan is the most visited region in the country, known for its key cultural and historical sites. This tour covers the prime locations of the west including Paro, Thimphu; the capital of Bhutan, Punakha; the former capital and the beautiful Phobjikha Valley in Wangdue. It offers a clear insight into Bhutan’s art, architecture, traditions and culture, giving you a deeper understanding of the country. Since Bhutan’s only international airport is located in Paro, most travelers begin or end their journey here.
What to expect:
- Bhutan offers a unique Himalayan experience. While hotels and restaurants are comfortable, some may have fewer Western-style services, and food options in remote areas can be simpler.
- Road travel can be slow and winding due to mountain terrain, so drives may occasionally feel bumpy.
- This tour is light to moderate in activity, with some walking on uneven paths and a few longer days of sightseeing.
- The hike to Tiger’s Nest is the most challenging part of the trip, but rewarding and manageable with a steady pace.
